HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

"As part of Crowie Holdings Group Corporate Social Investment Programme, we have engaged with the Habitat for Humanity to support them in their Build a House programme. This project took place from the 23rd to the 27th of November in Orange Farm, Johannesburg.

The beneficiaries of the house are Mr. and Mrs. Mohono.

The Mohono family has been staying in shack for more than 15 years. The house that the family is to benefit from will serve as their first decent house.

Ntombizodwa (their daughter) is disabled and she receives a disability grant of R1010.00 every month. Both Mr. and Mrs. Mohono are unemployed; they survive on Ntombizodwa's pension grant. Mr. Mohono also does piece jobs to generate income, but those piece jobs are scarce. Life is very difficult for Ntombizodwa because her disability grant does not meet her needs due to the fact that her parents are also depending on her disability grant.

Mr. Mohono is very happy that CROWIE HOLDINGS and Habitat for Humanity South Africa built his family a house. In his own words Mr. Mohono says "Not being able to afford a house resulted in me accepting that I will never have a decent home but all has changed because of good people who thought of me."

Congratulations to Siya and the team at Crowie Holdings who volunteered to build the Mohono's a house in a week. The handover was very emotional and something that everyone in the organisation should have witnessed. It would have shown us how much we have in our lives to be grateful for.Thank you for making a difference in the life of a family less fortunate that us.
